TTT - Toys R Us

Warning.

If you need to go to Toys R US, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, bring your toddler. It will be a disaster.

And instead of getting the one thing you went to purchase (a bike helmet so a certain toddler would be safe being pulled behind our bike in his buggy), you will end up with something else. And said something else will likely be more expensive than what you were planning on buying.

In this case, the object of desire was a bike for said toddler.

He lost his mind when we carted him past the bike aisle. (Sneaky how Toys R Us makes you pass the bike aisle and every other expensive -toy-aisle to get to the back of the store where they keep the bike helmets.) He tried to climb out of the cart and was screaming bike over and over again AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS.

Other parents were gawking. Why couldn't we keep control of our kid?

And if going in the store wasn't mistaken enough, we thought we could make the situation "better" by letting him sit on one of the tricycles. You know, get it out of his system.

Bad idea. Rookie mistake.

Meltdown 2.0 ensued when we tried to pry him off the bike.

So we may or may not have bought the bike.

But then he continued to cry the whole ride home because a toddler does not comprehend that the bike needs to ride in the trunk on the way home. And then he cried for an hour as daddy put the bike together.

But finally he was able to ride his bike. He loved it! And then he wouldn't get off the bike.

So consider yourself warned. And avoiding bringing your toddler with you to Toys R Us at all costs. Your pocketbook will thank you.
